Today’s Devotional
He also admonishes us not to pay attention to the commandments of men; they don’t go well with the word of God, hear Jesus:
“Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men... And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.” Mark 7:7,9
What gets your attention in life? It must be the word of God. The word fashioned you, only the word can command you:
“Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.” Psalms 119:73
Only the word, when you listen, can affect your spirit, can affect your life and can affect your body:
“…the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings… For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” Proverbs 4:20-22
What a word!!!
Remember? That was the response of his listeners in Luke 4:36, when through his word, he delivered a possessed man— the commandments of men can’t wrought this, only the word!
