” Memory Verse
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Luke 2:14
Today’s Devotional
Think about what these guys were saying:
“Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.” Luke 19:38
Why would they think of peace in heaven? Did anybody tell them there were wars in heaven? Their response mirrors the response of Peter before Jesus after he had the catch of his life:
“When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” Luke 5:8
He felt he was not good enough, so instead of choosing to stick with Jesus like this guy:
“And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God...” Luke 18:43
He thought to chase him off like these guys:
“Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them…” Luke 8:37
Jesus said in John 16:33 “IN THE WORLD YOU WOULD HAVE TROUBLES” but that was right after he assured us that in him, we would have peace! Your location matters, and you don’t have to wait till you get to heaven to enjoy peace!
