Today’s Devotional
The Bible tells us:
“…a flattering mouth worketh ruin.” Proverbs 26:28
How true, see how the Pharisees set a trap for Jesus via flattery, and if he was so persuaded by the praise of men, he would have been entrapped;
“Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.” Matthew 22:15-16
How interesting it will be for the man who flatters himself! It’s already something to avoid the flattery of others, but anybody who compares himself to others and judges himself better placed has created his own entrapment. The Bible says:
“…but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” 2 Corinthians 10:12
