“For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;”
Titus 1:7
Today’s Devotional
It matters that you hold yourself to the standard of the word because at the end of time, the word would judge all things. Hear what Jesus said:
He must be blameless, and he shows us how:
“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;” Philippians 1:9-10
Walking in love, and abounding in it would affect your sense of judgement; because love is patient and kind, you would be slow to make hasty and unrighteous decisions. He didn’t say a bishop should try and be blameless, but MUST be blameless.
As a steward of God, set your standard to the word, let your fellowship and doing the word continuously squeeze out reason to slack in righteousness and holiness:
“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1
